Central Line
The Höchst industrial park is a site that accommodates more than 90 companies employing roughly 22,000 people, from international corporations to creative service providers. unit-design took on the challenge of analyzing the current situation and drawing up a design for a comprehensive guidance system for the entire site, particularly for the busy freight traffic. The project involved devising pick-up points, routes, landmarks, designations, overall reference points and a clear code system.

Alongside various alternatives, unit-design focused on a proposal known as the "Central Line", which acts like a "spine" holding all points of origin together. The concept comprises a color-coded graphical system and a three-dimensional sign system.

The "Central Line" is clearly highlighted as part of the street architecture. It enables users to find their way back to their points of origin without a map from wherever they are on the sprawling site.
